Our friends Jeremy and Frankie are stout-hearted fellows who can keep a cool head and are not scared by any danger. Whatever the difficulty they know they can count on two real pals - Flip the parrot, whose glib tongue and imagination help them out of many a tight spot and Toby their faithful poodle who always seems to wriggle out of the most difficult, and sometimes funniest, escapades. Once more the two boys set out on a great adventure. The first evening they decide to camp in a wood, but a terrible storm breaks out and sweeps away their tent. Soaked to the skin they find shelter at the castle of the Countess of Steppeltoe. The countess also has a dog, Fifi and a servant, Eustace. In the courtyard there is an old well bearing a mysterious inscription. The boy's interest upsets Eustace. Why ? Read on and you will see.
